1

Design and implementation of cell models for biocompatibility and efficacy studies.

They allow to obtain in vitro predictive data for the effectiveness and safety of a drug or a medical device, highlighting the performance or the level of criticality of the product by reducing R & D costs and time to market.

2

Surface characterization studies

Application of the combination of colorimetric approaches with advanced optical and electronic microscopy techniques, IR studies and interface chemistry (XPS) to study the surface of materials.

3

Distribution of blood and / or biofilm cells in a material.

Histology approaches applied to entire medical devices and / or materials to characterize the distribution of single or associated blood cells in clots or bacterial biofilms within a simulated device of use to predict critical aspects in clinical applications.

4

In vivo models of human pathologies to test the therapeutic efficacy of drugs based on cell therapies.

Thanks to the collaboration with a team of surgeons and animal enclosures, in vivo studies are possible, using sophisticated in vivo imaging equipment, IVIS LUMINA III (PerkinElmer). TPM researchers developed animal models to evaluate the therapeutic efficacy of adult stem cells alone or associated with biomaterials.

5

Evaluation of the performance of materials

It is a personalized approach client tailor made to evaluate the filtering or absorbent capacity of a new material in relation to specific target molecules.

6

Design and validation of measurement systems

Ten years experience in the development of measurement methods and systems. This competence translates into consultancies that can range from simple technological scouting to the identification of commercial systems suitable to solve the specific measurement requirement, up to the study, design and development of fully functional demonstrators that can be used for field tests and / or demonstration purposes. The MS2 laboratory also has extensive experience in the technological transfer of the skills developed in order to support the customer until the production of the developed object.

7

Production and characterization of materials

The TPM Chemical Laboratory is able to support companies in chemical-physical field, starting from the design phase of a new product up to its production and validation, providing expertise ranging from morphological and structural analysis to the chemical functionalization of surfaces.

8

Design and mechanical prototyping

We support the development phase of new products and upgrades of existing products, through evaluation, mechanical design, verification and prototyping, ensuring a consolidated experience both in design and in FEM (Finite Element Method) mechanical and thermo-fluid dynamics analysis. In addition, we have a light-curing 3D printer.

We also support companies providing skills and tools for the definition and implementation of mechanical tests.

9

ICT and biomedical business

In recent years ICT has an increasingly pervasive spread in countless fields and in the biomedical environment too in which it is a fundamental innovation driver.

The biomedical environment, however, presents absolutely specific aspects that can be “barriers to entry” for ICT companies. The ICT products applied in the biomedical field on patient populations are classified as medical devices and require the “manufacturer” to comply with regulatory and legal requirements for their introduction into the market. The TPM (thanks to ISO 13485 certification) is the best partner for biomedical and ICT companies interested in designing, implementing and marketing software devices classified as medical devices and certified accordingly to the class dictated by the Intended Use. Collaborative projects are active with ICT and health companies related to SW, APP and augmented reality devices.
